Lanyards are one connecting element or a component of connecting elements belonging to the fall arrest system. A lanyard may be formed as a stranded rope, line or belt, with a loop on both ends. The line with a max. length of 2 m serves as a maintenance system. Lanyards limit the worker’s movements. Lanyards cannot be used by themselves but only in connection with an energy absorbing fall arrester as a means of fall protection. They can also be used as connecting elements between different fall arrest systems; this potential suitability is noted in the instruction manual of the respective system.
